What stays on your device
Habits, rate periods, slips, goals, app settings, and your optional Pro subscription state all live in a local SQLite database on your phone. They are never copied to a server.
What we never collect
We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, advertising identifier, IP address, or device fingerprint. The optional AI coach (below) is the only feature that sends a message you type off your device. By default it sends only that message; if you turn on "share my progress" for a message, it also sends the rounded summary described below. Separately, Sparely sends anonymous usage counts (which screens and actions are used) to help us improve the app — these carry no identifiers, no habit or savings data, and nothing you type, and cannot identify you (see "Network access" below). None of the above ever sends these identifiers.
The optional AI craving coach
Sparely Pro includes an opt-in "craving coach". When — and only when — you open it and send a message, that message is forwarded through a small Sparely server to Google's Gemini AI, which writes a reply. By default your habits, slips, goals and savings are not included — only your message. You can also opt in, per message, to "share my progress": a short, rounded summary (for each habit, its name and category with an approximate amount saved like "~€40", a combined rounded total, and your closest goal's rough percent — never exact figures, individual logs or history) is then sent with just that one message, so the coach can speak to the specific habit you're fighting. That toggle is off by default. Nothing you send is used to train the model or kept as a profile about you. The feature is off until you explicitly turn it on, and the rest of Sparely keeps working with no network at all.
Network access
Sparely makes network calls only in these cases: the in-app Pro subscription, handled by the platform store (Apple or Google); if you use the Pro craving coach, the single message you choose to send to the AI service described above; anonymous crash diagnostics (release builds) sent to our error-monitoring provider to help us fix bugs — these carry technical error details and never your habits, savings, goals or anything you type; and anonymous usage counts (which screens and actions are used) sent to our analytics provider to help us improve the app — these carry no identifiers, no habit or savings data, and nothing you type, and cannot identify you. Browsing the app, tracking habits and reviewing your savings touch the network in none of these ways.
Reset and uninstall
Resetting the app from Settings deletes all data. Uninstalling the app deletes all data. There is no copy elsewhere and no way to recover it.
